Shea Holbrook made final cut for inaugural season of W Series
American racer Shea Holbrook will be racing in the W Series, as the 18-driver field was announced Thursday in Spain.
Holbrook survived a grueling four-day on-track test used to trim the field of hopefuls from 28 to the final field of 18 that will compete for the championship of the open-wheel series. Drivers completed 3,000 laps of the Circuito de Almeria in Spain before the women representing 13 nationalities were announced for the first all-female single-seater racing series. Four other drivers were nominated as reserves.
Holbrook has raced sports cars and competed in the Pirelli World Challenge and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series.
“This has been a more difficult selection process than we ever could have dreamt of in terms of how close it has been across the field,” said F1 veteran Coulthard. “The rate of learning has been really impressive to see, and that’s absolutely what we need to see in those who have relatively little experience in single-seaters but have got natural speed.
