Shea Holbrook, professional racecar driver and Tarah Mikacich, professional wakeboarder, will compete for the second consecutive year in the Fireball Run. Lifelong friends, the two finished first in the sedan class last year with Shea behind the wheel and Tarah navigating.
The 2013 Fireball Run “All Stars and Movie Cars” consists of 40 teams from across the United States competing in an 8-day, 2,500 mile interactive adventure game. Taking place on the west coast, teams navigate the route and score points, using everything (and anyone) at their disposal, to solve clues to complete their mission.
Although it is a competition it’s not about winning; it’s about the adventure and raising awareness for America’s Missing Children. The Fireball Run is not a road race and is unlike any rally competition in the world.
The female team will compete in a 2013 Honda Civic Si courtesy of HendrickHonda.com and HendrickCars.com.
“We’re very thankful for Hendricks continued support and once we knew we were using a Civic Si the first theme that came to our mind was Fast & Furious the movie series! I’m going as Letty and Tarah as Mia, the two main female characters in the movie,” said Holbrook.
Holbrook’s furious pink livery includes partners, TrueCar, Lucas Oil, K&N Filters, Sportique Brands and BeatByAGirl.org.
Fireball Run’s Race to Recovery America’s Missing Children is unique in that it’s the largest active recovery effort for missing and exploited children in the country. Each team is assigned a missing child from their home region along with thousands of posters to distribute along the route. A decal featuring the child is affixed to the vehicle, creating a rolling awareness campaign. To date, the effort has assisted in the recovery of 38 missing children. Holbrook and Mikacich are representing toddler, Donald Jackson last seen in 2010.
Local supporters, fans and media are welcome to meet the teams at each destination and fans nationwide can follow the adventure LIVE on FireballRun.com/LIVE beginning Friday September 20th. Pre-rally events kick-off at Longmont, CO on Saturday, September 21st and the green flag drops on Sunday, September 22nd The rally will continue to be streamed live online and tracked via GPS as the participants rally through Alamosa, Colorado: Bloomfield, New Mexico; Page, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico; Mesa, Arizona; and El Centro, California until its dramatic conclusion and parade finish Saturday, September 28th in Riverside California.
