Orlando, FL (April 17, 2014) – The Shea Racing team announced today their driver lineup for the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge season including returning drivers Shea Holbrook and P.J. Groenke along with newcomer, Paul Holton.
The 2014 season marks the team’s fifth consecutive year and the 25th Anniversary Season of the Pirelli World Challenge.
P.J. Groenke of Toronto, Canada, and Paul Holton of Tallahassee, Florida will contest full seasons in the teams Honda Fits in the Touring Car B-Spec (TCB) category. Shea Holbrook of Orlando, Florida will pilot the teams Honda Civic Si entered in the new formatted class, Touring Car A (TCA).
Groenke finished last season with a top-ten finish in the TCB championship and a podium at the Houston Grand Prix season closer. “I’m looking forward to carrying the momentum of our amazing podium finish in the final race of 2013 through the entire 2014 season. I am very fortunate and thankful to have an amazing group of sponsors supporting me in my second season of Pirelli World Challenge racing and the entire team will be working very hard to achieve even greater results this year,” said Groenke. Groenke returns in the No. 66 Verax.ca, Tundra Technical Solutions, Mulligan Gold, Honda Fit.
Paul Holton, 17-year-old high school junior makes his first debut into professional racing with the Shea Racing team. Holton, a rookie driver, has shown the speed and commitment needed to excel this season. “To have the opportunity to race on a competitive professional platform in the TCB class is humbling and motivating to me. I look forward to what the season brings working alongside teammate P.J. Groenke and I can’t thank my family and partners enough for helping me get here,” said Holton. Holton will drive the No. 65 Radium, TrueCar, Lucas Oil, Honda Fit.
Shea Holbrook, driver and co-owner of Shea Racing looks to secure podium finishes in her Hendrick Honda Civic Si in the TCA category. “It’s great to see the series continue to grow with the addition of the TCA class. This platform offers great potential for us therefore I’m giving everything I’ve got for this championship,” Holbrook said. During the off-season Holbrook formed new partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation becoming a recipient of the Women in the Winners Circle Project Podium Grant. Holbrook is set to drive the No. 67 Radium, TrueCar, Lucas Oil, Hendrick Honda Civic Si.
Shea Racing heads to Barber Motorsports Park for their double-header season opener April 26-27th.
